The Nisse

This is one of the most beloved creatures in Norway and all of Scandinavia.

They are adored by all children and their red caps are seen throughout the year as a token of affection. Nils is a common name in Norway and “Nisse” is the nickname..

They live in barns or in abandoned sheds and love to be around animals of all kind.they are very sensitive and they take care of the animals of the farm. However, if the family forgets to leave them a special porridge on Christmas eve they may cause the cow’s milk to sour!..

This collection is hand made by Martha Nordstrand with research and care.

Each doll is unique and different and has it’s own personality. They are approximently 16-18 inches tall and are special order only. They are posable and bendable. The clothing is based on traditional Norwegian folk costumes (Bunad).
